Need urgent help regarding RAM

My mum is buying me new ram for christmas, and I need to know which RAM I will need.

I have done some brief searching and I found out that my computer takes DDR3, but I also found another place that said DDR2

So what I want to know is what RAM do I need, and what pin size :)

I have a Acer Extensa 5235

It takes DDR3 but we would need to know what the existing ram is as far as brand and speed so we can match up new ram to it. Can you pull out the ram and read whats listed on the sticker or do you want to download software that will tell us what you are running?

DDR3 only comes in one pin size. Are you running the 32bit or 64bit version of windows 7? You might want to get 2 -2gb sticks just to max out your memory.

I am using MS Windows 7 32-bit, and I would of got 2 - 2GB but then what do I do with the 1GB ;)
