Hi all,my wife's laptop has Window 7 64bit installed.My problem is that a lot
of the games she has eg:Sims will not load on her laptop,can i change her
64bit to 32bit without losing the 64bit.What i mean is there a way that i can
change 64 to 32 and then change back when we want to without uninstalling
and reinstalling.
 
You would have to set up a dual boot system. You'll have to create another partition out of the unused space to install 32bit version of 7. Are you sure the programs are windows 7 compatible? You might want to try running them in compatibility mode.

I also think your software isn't compatible with Windows 7 because because if it was, it would run no problem. Try running it in compatibility mode.
 
Johnb thanks for the reply,when i installed the Sims on my computer which is W7 64bit no problems,when i try my wifes laptop it will not install at all.I dont know how to try running the game in compatibilty mode as i dont know where it is.I dont know alot about computers as i think you have guessed.
Hope you can sort this out for me as she has a few games that she likes playing,wish she had not given her computer away now.
The Sims is for Windows 95/98 but it loads on my computer.

The only other thing I can think of would be if she has a limited account. Certain games won't work right if you have a limited account. Does she have a limited or administrator account?

Dont know what you mean limited account,the laptop is new and nobody else has access to it as there are only myself and wife living in the house.

Go into control panel, user accounts, and see if it shows her account as an administrator or limited account.
 
And some games won't work properly if you have them installed in the default "C:\Program Files\..." or "C:\Program Files (x86)\...". The reason is that UAC (User Account Control) imposes some restrictions on what can be done in those folders. So games that haven't been developed to run in Windows Vista/7 will probably try to write files (like a .ini file for graphics settings etc.) in the game folder, which will cause issues when installed in the "Program Files" folders.

So you could try uninstalling and installing the game somewhere else on the hard drive.

try right clicking the executable for the installer and choose run in compatibility mode...right click and properties and modify the compatibility tab... I apologize im not in front of a 7 machine right now but you should be able to get the idea. After you do that try installing the program also choose run as administrator.
