win repair help

I made my computer and got win xp pro to put on it and all is ok.

But after a year and things like Virus and things going on one thing happened.

Every noww and then some of my Icons on the desktop just the text on the Icons will turn black in color. Untill I click on it then the text turns to white.

Now I have no Virus and when I did have some they are no more now.

So I think along the way something must have massed up my system some how.

But everything is ok and runs great. So I don't want to r format.

If I put my win xp pro CD in and re start and click Repair Option will this fix it?

I never did this and I don't know what this will fix what is it for?
 
All versions of Microsoft Windows do not support the ability to change the color of the icon's text on the desktop without the aid of a third-party program.
Here are some that you can use:
Iconoid
Microangelo < This requires registration, I believe, and probably a trial period until you have to buy it.

I think a bad virus from before did this.

every now and then the text on any oof my icons go Black.

I have no virus now but it may have doen something I think.
If I put my win xp pro CD in and select Repair what does the Repair option do?

Is this just for system files?

I would goto start , accessories and system restore first. takes back to an earlier date then reboot. see if that helps. pick an earlier date than when it happened if available.

At this point your choice might be the only option using the cd xp disc. I think it just replaces the missing files. thats ok. won't hurt nothing. Worse case then i say same problem. try both. system restore first.
