Hello i have my operating system on drive (g:) and i had no use for drive C: so i had a partition program format it for me. and it rebooted now it says reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device.so im guessing i deleted some important boot files like boot.ini. I inserted my windows 7 disc and i selected repair but it doesnt see my operating system and when i go to the cmd prompt it starts out with X: \sources shouldnt it be like C:? anyways i entered commands like fixboot c: but it says invalic syntax. any ideas? thanks!

If your OS is on G, why are you running fixboot on C, you said you formated C. Plus are you sure you didnt format the wrong drive?

when you are in the command prompt can you see you g: drive... and how do you get to the command prompt, recovery console?

I put in the windows 7 disc and I go to repair my computer and it gives me an option to go to command prompt. And I can't see the g drive it just has an x:

You were perfectly clear you had no use for c: drive. Ive said before to name the hard drive so ya know which one you look at. something like C_primary.
Have to know which one's your looking at or you will surely wipe the wrong one again. In the bios it should be set up boot to cd. Could try booting and hit F8 and exit to dos prompt then look for cd then setup.

Ya it loads cd setup and on system recovery it doesn't see my sata hdd so I put some drivers for the hdd on a USB hdd and when I select the files it says the specified location does that contain info about your hardware. So how can I get it to recognize my hdd? I can access them when I select load drivers in system recovery options

Your boot files will always install to the C drive no matter where your actual windows installation is. And since you have formatted C drive, thats why you are getting your message. Look in the bios to see if it there is a sata controller setting that you can change from Ahci/raid to IDE/compatibility and try installing windows again.

Because that's where I think the boot files were. Because the formatting of c: drive affected my pc from booting.

Thats true, but since you formatted C, to the CD it just looks like a blank partition.

Look in the bios to see if it there is a sata controller setting that you can change from Ahci/raid to IDE/compatibility and try installing windows again.

Good idea. But instead of reinstalling. If he can get it to show he could try bootsect /nt60 SYS from command prompt in system recovery.
