always wondered this and tried looking up some stuff but anyone heard of a way of using one single mouse / keyboard over the span of two computers set up on two different monitors and towers .. random question .. proberly impossible just always wondered ^_^

This may not be the answer you are looking for but I use RealVNC on my PCs. One PC is running with the monitor switched off to save power (unless I want to do a lot of work on it). I control both PCs from one PC, one mouse, one keyboard, one active monitor. The display from the second PC is sent over my LAN.

On a side note, do you ever experience any kind of lag by RealVNC when connecting to the other computer? How is the framerate?

I haven't used it for a few months. There is some delay. Scaling gives poorer graphics. I mostly use when I'm doing things that are quite simple - starting up apps, moving files etc. I would not try doing anything like painting in Photoshop where continuous screen update is critical. I find the facility quite useful. I've never tried over the Internet.
