Hey, I woke up this morning and my computer was off, and when i tried to turn it on, the light turned on for a split second and then turned back off. I tried turning it on again and this time nothing at all happened. The only way i can get the light to turn on for that split second is when i unplug my computer from the wall or hit the PSU switch on the back, otherwise hitting the power button does nothing at all. My question being: is this a dead PSU or is it maybe something else?

If no fans are spinning and nothing is happening, it will be just about certainly your PSU. If any of your fans use molex connectors (the basic 4 pin power connector directly to your PSU) and they aren't spinning, it is definitely your power supply

Did you have any power outages/surges or flickering lights last night you might just have to switch the psu off at this switch leave it a few seconds turn it back on and push power and its all good again.

I left it unplugged all day and tried plugging it again and starting and still nothing, so I'll try replacing the PSU. Thanks for the help.

DON'T get a cheap, unknown brand. You don't have to spend massive amounts, but stick to better quality units. Ones from:

Antec
Corsair
SeaSonic
Silverstone
Enermax
Be Quiet!
XFX

are ones you should be looking at
