Long story. Be warned...
But please help! (:

My pc was broken, specify, my alienware ( which I love and owned for about two years now). It broke physically, as in the motherboard snapped and the graphics card, hard drive and heatsink broke as well. My case and PSU we're perfectly intact and the optical drive + ram.

I recently decided to repair it since it was only a 300$ repair. Just bought a graphics that's decent and a hard drive and yada yada yada. Point is, I got everything set up, and refit into my still good and perfect condition alienware case, also, I must say that this alienware case is definitely not use friendly. A pain in the ass I must say. Anyways, Everything is perfectly plugged in to the motherboard, every cable ( so I thought), and when I plug the power cable too the psu and outlet I expected it to turn on, but being all excited I forgot I need to click the power button. So I click it, and nothing happens? I look at the mother board and the green light is on, so power is getting through, so why isn't it turning on? Then I see a little wire danging that has two input pins labeled "Power SW", which I presume is "power switch". I look up my motherboard manual and find where to put it in. There are 2 pins where are labeled "power" and "ground" and indicates which are which, it also says that these two pins are for the power button, which is power switch I assume, correct? On the power switch cable itself it has an arrow point at one of the holes where a pin leads too but I don't know where to put it, so I guess and great shit happens! It turns on when I hit power, but it won't turn off? ( my hard drive is 100% brand new, nothing on it at all, if this matters for anything). I switch them around and put the arrow on the other pin, and same thing, it turns on, but now power off? The computer doesn't have a reset, it's just one power button for sleep and hold for power off.

Anyone have any idea why? ...

So you hold the power button in and it won't power off? Make sure the the cables for the power switch and power LED aren't switched around.

Have. and they can't get mixed around.

In this pc case, the LED cables are connected to a seperate section which alienware made and it's at the bottom of the case and it's retarted proof. and I know it works because it lights when I get the power on the pc ( as in turn it on). So yeah, I'm not sure what wrong? I've even held the power for like 2 minutes. Could it possibly be because I don't have an os? I know it doesn't makes sence but I don't know what else to think D:

Nope, doesn't matter if an OS is installed or not. I would say your new hardware is faulty, motherboard or power supply.

Yeah. I knew that it was just a last straw attempt type thing. It's a new motherboard?
The power cables come from the case. So could it possibly be the case?
