Started my build, Pics inside

So the UPS man brought me alot today so I figured Id start putting it 2gether. All I am missing now is a Blue-ray drive and I need to pick out and purchase a GPU. This is how its going so far.

NZXT Phantom Case in Black
MSI 790fx-GD70 Mobo
Phenom II x4 955 Black Edition 3.2ghz
Xigmatek Dark Knight heatsink
Corsair AX850 PSU
G.Skill Ripsaw (2x2GB) DDR3 1600 CL 7, 7-8-7-24
Asus DVD-RW
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache

Holy sheeyut that looks clean!

Gotta ask though, any reason for mounting the HSF horizontally?

Thank you, Im big on keeping things clean looking, I used to install custom car stereos thats where i get it from...... and sadly i think its my only option, im going to look it over again 2mro because with it mounted like this it blocks one of my memory slots. The way the retaining bracket for the heatsink latches it only allows for it to be mounted like shown. Im wondering if u can unscrew the mounting hardware and rotate it but im uncertain :confused:
 
Ah, yep, I missed that it was a Dark knight. That's the way to mount those on AMD systems without a kit. :/

Doesn't seem to be hurting anything though, and there'll be plenty of airflow either way.

yeah its ok for now, its just blocking a DIM slot. Although if the memory didnt have heat spreaders on them they might fit under it. Question though, on the Mobo i have 2 DIM slots that are black and 2 that are blue. the 2 black being closest to the CPU. Does it matter what what slot the memory is in? Or is it just as long as they are both in the same color. Right now I have both of them in the blue slots.... they are the 2 farthest away from the cpu
 
They're almost always color coded by channel, so you should be good to go. :good:

If you have any doubts, the user manual should explain it.

the user manual is beyond useless lol... i researched and AMD says on the majority of their mobos's the dimm slots farthest away from the cpu should be used first
 
From what I understand:
There's no difference, i'm using G Skill on mine too(with bigger heatsinks I think). I chose to put them on the black slots which are further away from the cpu, allowing for max clearance. I believe your ram has to be on one color set if it's dual channel, but it doesn't matter which color as long as you don't have one on blue and the other on black you should be okay. The only time you can use both color slots is during quad channel, where you use 4 ram sticks for all 4 ram slots.

yeah thats what im gettin as well, aslong as you match the colors your fine... its gonna suck when i want to expand because ill have to get ram and pull the heat spreaders off for them to fit under the heatsink. or maybe get 4gb stick instead of 2gb..... oh well no big deal i guess.
 
Looks good but mount the cooler so the fan is facing the 5.25" bays and blowing air our the rear of the case.

I did this and it dropped my CPU temps are bit, because it was sucking warm air from the GPU.

You can mount coolers vertically, you need take off the little metal clip and slide it through the heatpipes. Example:

That's for the cooler I use (CM Hyper TX3) but it applies all the same. Look for the grooves.

Hmm I dont have that option... 1 my metal clips dont come off, and 2 I dont have and grooves going longways on the heatsink :( I need to buy this thing http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233060
