How much RAM for a netbook?

We are considering buying our kid a netbook. I was wondering how much RAM is really needed for it. She will be only doing one thing at a time, such 3as watching a movie or playing a game. They are really into the Toy Story 3 game right now so I was wondering if 1GB of RAM was enough for that or not? Seems that all the netbooks only come with 1GB, 2 is rare. Any thoughts on the right netbook or other idea to get her? Thanks!
 
Netbooks are for basic use only. I bought my wife a Sony Vaio netbook and it was a joke. It could barely play a Youtube video. It would not play the Facebook game Happy Pets at all. The Intel Atom processor is very weak. I returned it a week later and got an HP laptop for her.

If she would like to play any game what-so-ever...I would go with a small notebook instead. I think in the long run...you'll be better off and happy with your purchase.

What is your max budget and what country are you in? There are many members from many countries and they can assist in finding something local.
 
I have a Toshiba NB250-255 it worked very well with one Gb of RAM,but just to be on the safe side I installed two Gb of RAM. It really helped it's speed.;)
 
Sure a laptop or note book is a more powerful system then a netbook, but they are larger. Poster said it was a netbook he was asking the question about needing the amount of RAM.;)

you make no sense.we know he said netbook, but we are saying that if sucks for games and online movies/clips.like ScOuT said,it would be a better investment to get a laptop/notebook.
