How To Re-Format And Re-Load Windows ?

i want to re-format my hard drive and re-load windows XP....it is an IBM Laptop computer with CD drive and no floppy or disk drive....

when the computer is booted up i insert the Windows CD and the welcome screen comes up and asks me what i want to do...when i select install windows fresh copy or whatever....cant remember exactly....it tells me to restart the computer and boot from the windows CD....

the problem is my laptop will not boot from the CD drive....i have tried everything i can possibly think of....changing boot order and put the CD drive first in the order did not help....it still boots from the hard drive....

how can i do this?

You need to hit a key when it says "Press any key to begin installation" otherwise it'll boot back into Windows on the HDD.

have you tried holding down f8 on startup, for the boot selection menu, and manually point it straight to you cd drive.

Is this a genuine xp install cd from microsoft or a burned copy? If its a burned copy, most likely it wasn't made bootable.

it is a burned copy i think you are correct because i tried other CDs and they do boot....is there any way to make this CD bootable now??
