Looks like the 58xx cards are finally coming down in price.

Thoughts? Personally, I'd be thrilled to get a 5850 for the price of your average GTX 460, or a 5830 for the price of a high-end 5770.

The 6xxx series aren't much more money. You can get a nice XFX 6870 for $219 after rebate.

Well that depends on peoples budgets of course,But personally i think the 6 series are priced very nice...atm i think the best deal is on the 6950 because its able to unlock to a 6970 for free!

I'd go for a 5830 if I could flash it with a 5870 bios.

Wont work.

It seems like the problem is there's a lot of talk but no real test data to compare against. The xfx 5830 might make a good "test" card due to their double lifetime warranty. Unless bios flash induced malfunctioning isn't covered by their warranty. I'd love to hear back from someone who has tried it, if it puts it exactly at specs with 5870, and the difficulty of the procedure.
