2007 - Dell Computer Searching an Upgrade

predicament

So fellas, I bought a dell computer, XPS 600 back in the day (2007) for around £1,999 I believe
Seemed pretty top of the line

However now, i am unable to play games on even decent graphics settings

Clocks around 3.4 GHz naturally, which struck as being really fast for an old 2007 with no upgrades since

Specs
Pentium 4 650 3.4 GHz
NVidia GeoForce 6800 (or possible 2 graphics cards?? I didn't realise )
Foxcon ls 36 Mother Board (I believe)
1 GB of Infineon DDR2 Ram

Are there any upgrades I can make to DRASTICALLY increase performance?

Otherwise, I am thinking of building a £<1000 computer

By the way, does this mean I am running 2 graphics cards..?

There really is not much you can do to increase performance with a Pentium 4 platform. You could buy a new PSU, RAM and graphics card...but then it still would not run good because it will be choked by the processor.

You would be much better off just building a new system.

Agreed. For under £1000, you could build something about 400% quicker than that Dell.

i5-2500K - £176
P8P67-M - £106
Thermaltake Frio - £37
XFX HD 6870 1GB - £185
CM 690 II Advanced - £70
2 x 4GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz - £106
SpinPoint F3 1TB - £40
SATA Optical - £13
XFX Black Edition 850W - £113
OCZ Vertex 2 60GB - £96

Total before shipping/OS: £942.

Windows 7 64-bit is about £70 is you need that also.
