CD Music to Ipod off line?

Greetings all!,

......my brother has an ipod and i know VERY LITTLE about them. my brother tells me that one must go through the internet in order to transfer music to his ipod.

.......what he wants to do **WITHOUT GOING ON LINE** is to take his cd's and place them into his cd rom in his desktop computer (plenty of ram and hd space and processor speed) and transfer the music to his ipod.

1)...is this possible w/out going on line?
2)...is there a program that will do this and if so, name please?
3)...is there a particular procedure as to how to do this and if so, could someone furnish it?

THANKS for any assistance you can give but, please remember, he wants to do his music and do it OFF LINE.

1: He can do it offline but he won't get track or album info automatically. He'll have to insert that himself.
2: iTunes of course.
3: Insert disc, put in album/track info (if you want. Makes life easier) and click "rip". Once the music is ripped onto the computer, just drag and drop the music from the library onto the iPod.

i will read it this morning but,YOU ARE SURE ONE DOESN'T HAVE TO BE ON LINE TO DO THIS and, are you sure is there no 3rd part program that has the capability to do this?

All you have to do is download the program and install it. Only time you'd have to be online, unless you wana use a flashdrive and download it from another computer.

And like I said, iTunes is the easiest way to do it. I believe Winamp has an iPod plugin, but I don't know how to use it.

Why wouldn't you just want to use iTunes?
