Windows 7 OEM

I know little about M$ licensing, and their website didn't help me really. I've heard that an OEM copy is identical to retail, only it is tied to one "PC" so if I upgraded my motherboard/CPU I couldn't re-install it:confused:

I thought it was just it didn't come in a fancy box

EDIT: argh
too much contradiction

yeah i'm pretty sure that is right, but when/if you did re-install when it asks you to re-activate, and fails online, you can just call microsoft and tell them what your doing and they will reactivate it via phone at no charge.
I think they only really that the oem copy is used on one pc and not multiple.

Also, not that it matters to us, but you wont get tech support from them.

So would a PC with a new motherboard be a "different PC?"
They'd just re-activate? ^
And no i don't give a damn about MS support :P

they always re-activate me whatever version i was using for both xp and vista but i have not tried it with 7 but i'm pretty sure it works, micrsoft want to be sure you are using it on one pc only and if you change the mobo to an average user it would constitute a "new personal computer" and the license is not "transferrable"

I'm not always so good at explaining myself so here's what i'm trying to say and more
