If I hook this up to my FiOS Router?
If I hook this up to my FiOS Router?
If my router isn't the problem, then what do you think is the problem? i get 40 down when I am hardwired, but only 20 when I am wireless (on the mac). While I don't care the Mac doesn't download that fast, I am concerned that my PC won't.
Fraid I don't use Macs much, but I have heard they have issues with Airport cards and none Airport bases. Have you tried a Windows wireless laptop on your router?
Try a thing or two perhaps with the Mac's DNS?
You might also try changing/updating the firmware of your router.
Anyway, if you havn't purchased the hardware yet, go with N, its usually only about 10$ more expensive than G anyway, and while it might not help now, it certainly will in the future when your internet starts surpassing the 54 limit of G.
If you've already purchased the router (as I understand it), still get an N card for your pc (N is backwards compatible with G) and if you don't see the 40/40, update your router.
Recommended Brands (in order left to right, best to 'just good'): Linksys, Netgear, D-Link.
Is there a wireless adapter you can recommend? Otherwise im gonna head to Bestbuy tomorrow and see what they have.
Depends on if you get PCI or PCI-e(1x) and a few other factors (namely how much you want to spend). Basically, Newegg.com > Linksys > best rating (ie, a product that has 900 5 star ratings can't be bad).
Oh, and Bestbuy is going to rip you off badly, wouldn't recommend it.
