hi guys, so i have my girlfriends familys computer and i was doing some house keeping, i updated ccleaner, adobe flash, adobe reader, itunes, then ran ccleaner and then uninstalled some unnecessary programs on the computer (mainly games) rebooted and now the network connection logo has the red x on it and a message that says "Connection status:unknown class not registered" and when i go to do a system restore i get another message thats says "system restore does not appear to be functioning correctly on this system. The volume shadow copy service used by system restore is not working. for more information view the even log. (0x81000202)"

what do we think i can do? how can i get it back to working the same as it was before??

and just for a note the internet does work the logo is just screwed up.

please help, thank you

Have you got a Windows disk of the version you are using? because you could try using the Repair function if so. If not is the logo the only thing that's not functioning properly?

So your problem is you can not connect to the internet? If that is the case, you might just need to download the driver for your ethernet port from your computer's manufacturer.

also from a different site

1. Clear all preferred wireless networks from your network configuration. Right click to manage, click wireless on the left, delete everything.
2. Ensure the network manager service is running

Hope that helps

Forgot to ask but how are you connected to the internet? Are you using a wirelss adapter or are you using an ethernet cord and plugging it into the back of your computer?

i can connect to the internet, but down in the startup bar the network connections has a red x and says "Connection status:unknown class not registered" and i can not do a system restore it says "system restore does not appear to be functioning correctly on this system. The volume shadow copy service used by system restore is not working. for more information view the even log. (0x81000202)" and its not the wireless that is not working it is the hard wired that is not working.

Keep the suggestions comming please

Tried to reinstall the driver for your LAN connection? Just a side thought because the wireless is working and the wired isn't

I am confused. You said you can connect but then you say you can't connect. Are you saying that you can connect wireless but not hard wired?

Also, do you have the Windows cd that was used to install Windows on there?

ok this is a desktop computer, There is NO wireless on the pc, Only hard wired, I can get on the web (i can go to cnn.com and other websites) the internet connections in the startup bar at the bottom of the desktop has a red x and says "unknown class not registered"

Try going into "Manage Netwrok Connections" to see if the default connection is set up as something else rather than LAN, if it is disable them and set LAN to default

I have found that "Adobe Flash Player" causes some versions of "Internet Explorer" to crash. There is one file in some versions of flash player that is incompatible w/ some versions of Internet Explorer. - That update might be what caused your problem. Apart from that, I would reinstall your LAN driver, and try rerunning the MS Internet Connection Wizard.
