My ram says 1.5v volts on the box, is that max or recommended?

It's G. Skill 4gb DDR3 1600. 9-9-9-24 stock and it says 1.5v. I know it's running at less voltage in my bios just not exactly what number right now, should it be running at 1.5?

As long as it is functioning fine it is fine if running a little low, I assume you did not play with settings? I am more aware of max settings not read so much about min. Now if you OC you might have to increase v even above 1.5v for stability. 1.575 is the maximum recommended when stability is mission critical. A quick look and I think your RAM does OC well. If the RAM is JEDEC standards and I assume it is. JEDEC says should not get damaged at 1.975v or below. Does not mean you will have stability but no damage.

I don't know AMD and if the CPU has a different max voltage. Say like Intel i7 is like 1.65v according to Intel and MoBo manufacturers.

If you run at spec's and no stability issues you should be fine.

It means if the RAM doesn't work @1.5v @9-9-9-24 there is something wrong with it and you can exchange it. You may be able to run it at less voltage or pump more in if you are overclocking.

I was just wondering this because my gigabyte mobo will not stably unlock my cores when when my old cheaper gigabyte did and I was wondering if the ram had anything to do with this. I made another post under motherboards, please check it out. Thanks for your help guys.

It may be undervolting the CPU...?

As far as I know, the way Gigabyte bins their RAM, it's perfectly safe to add at least .1V to their stated voltages, sometimes more. (A lot more in the case of their ECO line...)

It's safe to .475v above 1.5v. It might not function correct but it is safe.
