is this a thread about a computer problem or somthing else, I may be new here but certainly not iexperienced and typically this type of thread hijacking is completly unproductive.
Thanks for contributing and commenting. Sometimes some of us read previous posts to get a clue. But hey I guess if the King's English is what rolls so be it?:confused:

Baking a component until the solder paste remelts still sounds like a not-so-good idea to me; but then, if one has nothing to lose...

It is actually a recognised way of doing things, however for a notebook, I wouldn't want to because of all the other stuff on board. It can be, and is done, fairly often on graphics cards to great effect, you just stick it on a foil-covered-baking tray with a few balls of foil around the card and stick it in the oven for around 10 mins at ~200*C

However, you are absolutely correct that it should only be done if there is no other option, if still under warranty or if the GPU is not the certain cause, then the risk isn't worth it
