Some raid help

Okay, I'm trying to install windows drivers on 2 500gb harddrives in raid 0.

I got the BIOS settings all worked out and what not, but I can't get the drivers to install. The ones I got off the internet are .exe files so they don't show up when I search.

When I try using the motherboard disk, the drivers show up, but I'll click to install it, wait a few seconds....then it says couldn't install, contact vendor for driver update, or something of that nature. Then, the dvd drive becomes no longer visible when searching for a driver. What the heck?

need more info, when are you receiving these errors, while trying to install windows?
If so, 64bit windows, if so you will need signed drivers.

Also, if your downloading and exe file more than likely its a self extracting zip file in which you will need to run and specify a path for decompression ( place to save files), put them on the root of the flash drive otherwise the windows installer will not see them.

Access the motherboard cd and you should be able to find the raid drivers for the os.

I did try that, the problem is, for whatever reason, my dvd drive goes offine when I try to install it and I end up with an error.

I used this machine to extract the contents of the installer and trying that way. hopefully I'll have more luck.

When doing this raid thing with sata drives, do I need the achi drivers too? or just the raid driver?

Update:

Okay I tried using the extracted drivers....It'll act like it's installing it for a while, then it says no new hardware can be found...something something...and the list of drivers pops up again...I don't know what to do

You only need the raid drivers. You do have raid setup in the bios and in the raid utility?

Yeah, I even went step by step through the manual and do everything it said to do. I've tried every raid driver on the gigabyte website, even the ones for other OS's.

When I use the Disk it says:

could not install drive [drive directory]. Contact your vendor for an updated driver.

I just reset everything and am going back through it to ensure everything is set how it is suppose to.
