I will be making a four options,. and inside the four options what will be your bet? here are some list before you vote....

Windows
1. Xp
2. Vista
3. Win7

Linux
1. Fedora
2. Ubuntu
3. Open Suse

Apple
1.MAC OS X

After you choose an operating system why?

P.S to the moderator
Kindly close my first thread due to internet connection failure my poll options didn't came out

7. It's beast. It runs way better and faster than XP. Granted you need a decent machine to run it and not your dad's old Latitude D600.

and there should have been more choices for Linux. I dual boot Linux Mint and Win7 myself.

never used an apple pc so cant comment on them, linux is ok for a change and play with but not good enough for regular use, windows xp is a good steady system, but its a bit like that old faithful dog that can hardly walk now, i certainly wouldnt knock vista it was an under rated system with alot of bad press and xp die hards just wanting a moan, but windows 7 is in a different league, smooth as silk with nice modern gui and in general much better compat and easy to fix when things go wrong

I really wish multiple choices were available. I picked OS X but would have also picked a flavor of Linux. Windows is the worst OS out there on paper but many people like it. I personally do not like the registry, non self contained apps, and the huge lack of the command line binaries that other OSes offer.

Not really much of a war if you ask me. Most users here use PC so Mac is the immediate loser. Most Linux users do not bother with this forum as they need more advanced help that most PC users wont have. So its XP vs 7 as Vista was a flop. Since Windows 7 has won over many XP users I would say Windows 7 wins by default.

I run XP on all my machines, and have been trying to load openSUSE onto a USB drive. I would get Win7 for its awesome effects and usability, but IMO it's not really worth $100*3. Linux is by far the best OS for its customizability (new word :)), epic freeness (in terms of money), and security. KDE also reminds me a lot of Win7, and seems pretty epic so far. I even got a win7 theme for KDE, so openSUSE now pretty much looks like a green version of Windows 7. :D

So yeah, Linux pretty much pwns except for the fact that you can't get a lot of software for it, and it's hard to set up a lot of things.

For geeks, Linux = best OS.

Poll choices insufficient, therefore not valid.
Three "grandpa" families exist in GNU/Linux:
PHP:
Slackware
Debian
Redhat
and see image

Slackware and Debian are NOT represented in your poll.

The poll is flawed, thus no true results can be reached.

I am by no means a XP fanboy, but I'd rather have it over 7 any day. The GUI in 7 is bloated. They put in too much of the looks good things, like that little box at the bottom right that flashes you back to desktop..., thus driving up the system requirements. I like the stability of it, and the mass of built in drivers. I don't however see the point of having to pay 100 dollars to get it.
M$ could sell me on 7 for good if they could have the compatibility of 7 with the looks of 2000 or XP. Thats the ultimate OS. That dual booted with Linux Mint.

If you are not ubuntu then what is your name? anyways the windows vista is an EPIC FAIL operating system, that's why they've created windows 7 however if you will going to compare win7 and winXp in terms of resources the winXp is much ideal than win7 but if your basis are tight security you must stick to win7. it's less prone to viruses.

If the user is open source lover linux is the most ideal OS in the market, but if you are in a high class in the society your absolutely INN to the Mac OS X.

Therefore in this poll survey windows 7 is the winner to this war poll.

I went with Windows 7 as its my main (90% of the time) used operating system although i have Windows XP SP3 dualbooted along side which runs very nice for those older programs/games. :)

Windows Xp Sp3 is almost the-same as win7, the only difference of the is that the WinXp Sp3 is modified version of WinXp.

Not really, Windows 7 has a bunch of updated tech under the hood that XP does not. On the surface they may seem similar but the technology is vastly different.

I use my Macs for video editing, and my windows 7 machines for everything else. I've tried Linux, but it's a royal pain to set up.

You will all probably think that I am crazy, but my favorite operating systems are:

-Microsoft Windows 98 second edition
-Microsoft Windows XP Professional edition

Yes...you read good.Windows 98 and Windows XP.I never had any problems with them, they work perfectly on all my computers and are stable and fast as hell.Of course I use Windows XP a lot more then Windows 98,but Windows 98 can come in handy when I test my C# applications to see how they work on old Windows 98 OS.Let's face it...the program will be selling more if it's compatible as much as possible lol ^^

Windows Vista and Windows 7 are also great to me.The reason why I don't really like them so much and use them is because Microsoft has put so many things inside which I do not need at all.Not to mention that many programs I use do not work at all on Windows Vista or Windows 7 even when using any of the compatibility modes.Ok true...I can always download newer versions of those programs, but the McAfee antivirus I payed for more then 1000 dollars is not compatible at ALL and I am not crazy to buy the new one just because of the Windows Vista or Windows 7 lol.

Microsoft really likes to make these incompatibility craps lol.
