System Restarts upon boot up, otherwise Stable.

So my system is running stable when its turned on, but when i push the power button to turn it on after its been off for a few hours it begins to boot up and restarts straight away and always loads up successfully after it resets itself. What could be the problem?

The system is in my sig, once its in windows it runs everything stable with no hicups and is a powerhouse machine, games at full settings, video encoding, stress testing ( LinX,Prime95,IBT,WPrime ) etc no issues. I don't think its a psu issue but I'm not sure, I've got a gpu that requires a lot of power but my full spec should be covered by the 650W Coolermaster GX, its 80% certified and using the PSU caculator my machine barely reaches 500 watts.

I'm really stumped, Ive tried tweaking everything in the bios ( pheonix award ) but I'm clueless. Whats strange is that if i turn my machine off and then push the power button it always makes it to windows 7 first time, but if its been off for a few hours it will always restarts on boot up.

As I said rig's in my sig, any help would be hot. If you want any info just ask.

You could try a new CMOS battery, might mix your issue.

Did you install any hardware/software just before this started happening?

I had a similar issue, but I don't remember what the problem was. I'd still try a CMOS battery, you never know. They only cost $3 or $4.

Have you considered that your power calculations are incorrect? Perhaps that is not enough to cope with inrush? Once the power has been on briefly, the components may be charged up where applicable and fans have broken the static friction. Next start attempt shortly after may need less inrush power. I noticed in the spec it talks about a "massive bulk capacitor"!

Right So I've discovered that it only double boots if I turn it off at the mains socket....If i switch the PC off and leave the mains socket on it boots first time. Never had this happen with any other PC it seems this one just doesn't boot first time from a completely cold state.
