put in second disc drive now both dont read disks

ive had 1 cd-rom drive in my gaming rigg for a year now n i finnally dicided to put a dvd drive in so thats what i did. i installed everything good. both disc treys open up except neither of them read the discs. i tryed putting in black ops (dvd version) and it woudnt read it. i also tryed putting in age of empires 3 (cd version) in the cd drive neither of them read the discs. if annyone can help me out please let me know

If these are IDE drives on the same cable. Did you set one as master and one slave?

If, as posted above, the drives in question are IDE, here is a diagram for setting the correct master/ slave jumpers:
