Putting new desktop together, need plug advice

Got a LED lighted fan that needs to be hooked up but dont know exactly where it plugs up. A plug adapter that came with the tower has 2 prongs , and the fan plugs are 4 pronged. The top red circle are from the LED fan. How and where does this fan hook up?

Also the power supply has these molex plugs that I dont know where or if they are even needed for my setup.

The fans plug directly into the power supply 4 pin molex. There's a flat side so only one way to fit. Sometimes they can be a bit stubborn and hard to push together. Just make sure the flat sides line up and that the pins have started or are lined up.The others look like adapters to fit the fan in case you want to plug them into the mb fan header pins that should be labeled. Since they're 2 pin, I'd probly just connect to the ps unless cable managment was better having them to the mb.

No, only when you power it on. The mb has some power all the time tho, so unplug and push the power button a few times to discharge the system before.
It won't hurt to connect the fans like you think you want, and give it a try.
Just turn it back off if the fans don't spin up, esp the cpu fan.

If you plug the fans into the PSU, they'll be running 100% all the time while the system is on. If you use one of those adapters that came with the case, you can plug the fan into a header on the motherboard, allowing the mobo to control the fan's speed. (and in the process control how loud it is)

the 4 pin molex connector has a +5, a +12 and two grounds, the fans probably only run on +12 so thats why only two pins are used

as far as the management goes, it would cut down on fan noise and extend the life but if you dont mind just plug em up with the adapter shown

they'll run as long as the computer is awake

Actually, he has a point. I wasn't looking at that adapter correctly...those ends are all female. It wouldn't be any different than using the Molex straight into the PSU. The point of that adapter is to power several fans from one Molex. You'd think the fans would have 3-pin motherboard header connectors on them somewhere, though...it'd odd that they don't.

edit: fans are all 12V, btw. The 3rd wire you usually see on them is a speed sensor.

I hooked the fan with the LED light directly to the power source and it does not come on unless the tower is on. Like posted above I guess the adapter with the 3 fan plugs is for other fans to be added. Thanks
