Stream Linux Box Media To Blu-Ray?

Hello all :) I am completely baffled by most networking projects I attempt to undertake, so I figured I'd ask for some help on this one. I have a computer running Ubuntu 10.10 (although I'd have no problem with partitioning my hard drive and installing Ubuntu Server) and I want to stream content to my living room. My first thought on this was: "My Blu-Ray Player has an Ethernet connection, can I stream to that?" So that's my first question: "Can I stream content to my Sony Blu-Ray player to watch on my on TV?"
Thanks in advance for any help offered :)

Google the product number of your Sony BluRay player and see if it supports the DLNA protocol. If so, then you can use streaming server software (Like PS3 media server, for example) and your BluRay player will be able to stream it
