Future upgrade question

As a future upgrade say 6-8 months, would it make more sense to go to a 3-way 570 SLI setup or get a dedicated physx card? Or just stay with 2 570's in SLI?

1600x1200 to 2560x1600 if the game permits. I would like to play at 1920x1200 with max or close to it settings always if I can.

None of it makes sense per se :P Obviously the most powerful set up would be the 3-way SLI, although I'm not sure how well that would scale. Psyx isn't worth getting a card for imo, if you have an extra card kicking around then by all means use it for Psyx, but I'd never buy one specifically for it. 2 570s should handle damn near everything at 1920x1200. So I can't see spending the extra $350 on a 3rd card being worth the performance boost.

Actually the 570 and 580 scale almost linear. 2 is twice 1, 3 is thrice etc

However I will add, my machine plays all games (Crysis, CODBLOBS, BBC2) at 1900 x 1080 maxed out. I have a 5770, so unless you are going for 3 x 24" monitors, i have to say (again) - overkill.

Wow, seriously? I guess I need to start looking in to SLI more seriously as an upgrade path. :)

They are close to 100% now, same goes for crossfire, though with the 5xxx cards, they were pretty poor scaling wise. 6xxx is much better, but only just off the pace of the Nvidia cards. Noticeably, no, on paper, yes

Yeah I'd heard that the 6XXX series scaled quite well, but I didn't realize it had become such a universal thing. I mean I guess I should have realized, with both companies making much better drivers, that they'd improve scaling too, but I guess it just never really crossed my mind.
