SSD will help a lot in PC mark bench.

Really? I assumed the majority of the benefit goes to boot times and a general feeling of responsiveness in programs loaded to the SSD. I'd rather a smoother gaming experience than a faster loading bar, so that's why I've always kept the SSD on the bottom of my priority list.

Well it is a good motherboard (I use that one) but it uses the 770 chipset. You will be a generation behind what is the current AMD chipsets. So no USB 3.0 and SATA lll. This may not be a deal breaker for you but I would always go with the latest chipset when looking for motherboards.

Ok, if i stick with that CPU. what motherboard and ram would you say i should get.

Bare in mind my price limit for CPU/motherboard and ram is about £250 (as i need to by other parts)

Ok thank you for helping me decide. Ive now just purchased the Asrock board and the x4 955.

Need to purchase some RAM now, whats best to look at? 4gb /6gb?/8gb maybe?

4gb is fine, that corsair ram is an excellent choice on a budget.

Depends on which drives you are looking at. Some may be worth, most are not.

What kind of capacity were you looking for?

not for a standard 7200 rpm drive. Those won't even get to the max speeds of sata 2.

I think the Samsung Spinpoint F4 series of hard drives are faster than the F3 series. In my opinion I would go with an F4 series hard drive.

The 320GB drives are faster by quite a bit. The 2TB drives though are for storage, they are only 5400RPM, but are solid drives

I did not realize that Samsung had an F4 series drive that was 5400 revolutions per minute. I thought all the Spinpoint F4 drives were 7200 RPM drives. What was did he select for his primary hard disk drive?
