Have had the dreaded blue screen about 7 times in the last fortnight , comp stalling a few times , and every 2, 3 minutes i can here a tick and everything stalls , i think its coming from the hard drive , help please .

Dont know if this helps but had these figures from somewhere.
os version 6.0.6002.2.2.0,768,3
local id 2057
bccode 1a
bcp1 00000030
bcp2 86bad9b0
bcp3 b1e5e000
bcp4 80f69130
havent a clue what it means .

If the hard drive is clicking there is no need to go any further. Stop using the pc until you can get a new drive and transfer the data over. If you keep using it, the drive may totally die and you won't be able to transfer any important data off the drive.

Thnx for that pal , could that be the only problem , could it just need a reboot its a 750 gig drive its a shame to throw away??

try to take the hard drive out and take it apart to see if the little arm piece is stuck, i saw a video on this once. the arm that reads the disk was stuck on it, he took the drive apart. go the piece unstuck and plugged it back up while still taken apart and showed it worked just fine after that.

Thanks again , could it also have something to do with the power supply , have had to disconnect my dvd drive because it wouldnt boot up with it connected and other usb devices maybe thats why the hard drive stalls and crashes .

Is the dvd drive clicking or the hard drive clicking? IF you unplugged the dvd drive and it booted up then either you have a bad drive or a bad molex/power connector from the power supply.

Sound a lot more like the hard drive is about to die. I'd just buy a new one and transfer everything over. And for god sakes dont open your hard drive, thats one of the worst things you can do.
