Budget Build

Hello Everybody, I am going to be building my first build soon, and I am a total noob so I do not know what parts to get.

I am on a budget of 500 dollars, but I already have an os, monitor, mouse and keyboard. I will be using this for gaming, mostly WoW, but I hope to play newer games in the future.

Right now I am on a Dell Inspiron desktop, but I want room to upgrade parts as I get some spare money in the future. If anybody has time to help that would be greatly appreciated.
 
Yes, excellent OS. Just started using it myself and love it. 64-bit is the way to go.

Now: For cpu/motherboards do you prefer Intel or AMD? Nvidia or AMD for graphics? OR no preference?

Well your best "bang-for-the-buck" is AMD. Others will step in and lend their advice as well. Depending on where you live you might have to pay tax, certainly shipping so if you are limited to $500 keep this in mind. I purchase from Newegg a lot but since I line in New Jersey I have to pay tax on top of shipping unless I can get free shipping in the deal.

Is $500 the maximum you can spend at this point?

$60 over though!,Although im not in the US ...In alot of those links have Mail in rebates, does Mail in rebates get deducted from the price in the basket automatic? or is it when you pay?If so it could be cheaper than the basket says....not sure...

Ive already toned it down as much as i can to save money,You could probably still go with a cheaper mobo but i would honestly recommend just saving for that extra $60.

I like the Thermaltake case that Nevakonaza links to much better but the quad Deneb mihir links to would certainly be my preference for the cpu.

We posted the same motherboard,PSU,HDD.The CPU and the GPU I posted are better than the CPU and GPU he posted but the memory he posted is 1600MHZ.Case is a personal choice.

Thank you all for the help. If there is no way to get the price down and still make it a decent machine then I will go with Nevakonaza's build as it is alittle cheaper, and save for the extra money.
 
I do not need the computer right now, but prefered to have it sooner as to later. I do not have a huge money income though so it will be abit to save up a big amount of money.
 
You always dont need a big budget to build a PC.There are good PC in a fine Budget.Like 500-700.And spending more than that on a PC when you have a requirement for a lesser config is pointless.glass no need to extend your budget both PCs listed will perform just fine for a long time and there wont be any game which you wont be able to play.

I'd probly do something like this, and add the listed RAM & case. The HDD below may not be 32mb/6.0 but neither will transfer @ 6.0 anyways. If can afford the 32mb in the end, then I would do that. This 7200.12 is a good drive. The gift card items can be purchased 1st if a person wanted to wait 4 days to use that $ towards the rest of the system.

I just put bought a bunch of parts for my system which came to about 500, but Im using W.Server 08 R2 as an OS...which saves over $100, while also enabling Win. 7 features. :)
 
Compatible?

So I took a mix of all of your builds to see if I could get a cheaper one, and now I need to know if they are compatable with eachover.
If something I chose really needs to be changed to a better one I can do so.
