How often?

I replaced the LCD and the inverter but the Screen is still black no icons.

I read sometimes if the lid switch module dies, the screen is black with no icons as if the lid is in the closed position?

Is this a laptop? In my experience it would take quite a bit of time for the LCD screen to die I have never seen or heard of something like this.

Could you tell us the full model name
hardware
software

All of this can be found by computer -----> right click------> properties.

That's assuming he has an external monitor, since the one on his laptop does not work.

Yes

Yes hp. external monitor works great I read the switch that turns the screen off sometimes fails resulting in a dead lcd screen when opened

Can you unplug the lcd lid switch module?

I've looked up the HP lid switch Module and it says it works with a magnet as you close the lcd screen on the laptop the switch kills the power and maybe the data to the lcd screen, or inother words the screen goes dead.

Question; If the lcd lid switch module can be unplugged or removed, will the lcd screen come back to life, open or closed.

I would not want the laptop to stay that way, but for testing the switch and the seemingly dead lcd screen, If the screen is again working I'll just need to replace the bad switch.

Anyone know if I disconnect the LCD lid switch module will the suggested action work?

Thanks
