Its been a long time since I built my last computer. I am still running a single core processor with 2 gbs of ram. I am currently in the process of buying pieces for my next build. So far I have the case, motherboard, processor, and video card. I already have the other pieces picked out, but haven't purchased them yet.

Anyway, I am not sure what power supply unit I should get. I don't know how much power I will need. I will list the specific parts I have, and I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could recommend me with a power supply that would be sufficient enough to put out enough power and also be reliable and last for a long time. Thanks

I will be running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. If you have a chance to suggest a power supply that would be great. Thanks

If you will be using it only for gaming then the above suggestions will be the ones you should with.

And the PSU daisymtc linked is an awesome PSU.

why 16GB of RAM?

I am not sure if I will need 16 or not. I am going to start with 8 and so if there is a need for 16. I am going to be doing alot of audio recording at high bit rates, running a lot of plug-ins and so forth, so their may be a need for 16.

you won't need 16GB RAM.
spend the extra $100 on video card to GTX 570

I suggest you got core i5 2500K + P67 mobo

PSU - XFX 650w

I already purchased the AMD processor and Gigabyte motherboard. Like I mentioned above, I will be running alot of audio plug-ins and recording multiple audio tracks and such, so I may need more RAM than you might think. I will also be gaming on it moderately, however I do most of my gaming on the PS3. Thanks for the suggestion on the PSU, I am looking into that one.

Thanks for your help, I think thats the one I will be going with.
