hi there...
ive been looking around and there has been alot of conflicting information on which is better to go with. so my question is which would be better for gaming on max settings with a resolution of 1920x1080?
Thanks in advance:)

It's always better to go with a single, more powerful GPU than two less powerful GPU's in SLI/Crossfire due to driver/scaling issues.

At your resolution a single 580 will be able to tackle anything.

Always a single GPU.
A GTX 580 is really powerful and will be more than enough for any game you play at FULL HD maxxed out.

The gtx 570 is way better bang for the buck...only ~5% less performance for 25% less cost.

Honestly for 1080 you'd be hard pressed to find a game that'll max a single gtx560 out anyway. I have a gtx 460 768mb, and also play at 1080p, playing black ops with all settings on highest with 8x AA and 16x AF and I get 80-85 FPS. A 560 1gb is quite a bit stronger too.

Even I will be getting myself a GTX 570.
Does anyone know when the next batch of NVIDIA/AMD GPUs will be released

Probably before or around Christmas. Whether they are new or just rebrands/shrinks is another question though.

I hope they are new. :good:

They go through GPUs crazy fast compared to processors.

I wish they would slow down a bit.I hate buying a GPU and in a next few weeks its outdated.
CPUs remain in date for a longer time and rarely bottleneck a game for >3 years.

I just got a GTX 570 based on 87dtna (actually, all of my parts) and my PC FLIIIIIES.

I play Crysis on Ultra High (maxed) on 1920x1080 or 1200 (forgot which) and it's pretty freakin smooth. And that was before I overclocked it passed SC settings. And before my processor was 4.4ghz (was at 4.0ghz at the time).

If you played at 1080 that would not fit properly on your screen. 1920x1080 is 16:9, 1200 is 16:10. 1680x1050 is also 16:10 which would fit properly/scale correctly.

Oh, well there ya go! I played it by 1200! lmfao

I love my PC btw. I owe you many thanks! This PC is a total monster now. I can't believe at how fast this thing is.

I reckon.... they come and go way to fast

Only 580's would be an upgrade. 560's would be a downgrade....570's would leave you with the same performance. The 480 is a super strong card, they just run too hot it's the only real issue with them.
