I posted 3 days back hoping that knowledgable folk would help with my next computer purchase but no replys to 3 threads started. What I need is a PC that has the power to do video edits for my new GoPro camera. GoPro says I need as a minimum 3.2 GHz, 4GB RAM, dedicated video card with 1GB.

Will this do the trick and is it a decent price?

This vid I converted to AVI and even so lost a lot of detail and my CPU was pegged at 100 % the whole time.

I would not use the Intel HD 2000 onboard graphics for what you need your system to do. What is your budget?

Nice post there BurningSkyline.

@ deckofficer - What BurningSkyline linked you to would really make a nice build for your needs. In the future you can easily upgrade to another 4 gigs of RAM. As Benny Boy rightly says, "Build it yourself."

I bet he could go with something cheaper for a VGA like a 5670/6670 or something similar?

Just trying to get him the best build for his money. :D

EDIT: He could take $10-15 off and get a HAF 912 if that is his style.

GoPro can record at 1080P HD, file sizes for 10 minutes are 2~3GB.

Just curious, are you comfortable with building your own rig? Or would you rather buy one?

If you added cash to the budget, we could add a SSD to your build and Your OS/Applications would load MUCH faster.

Those HAF cases are nice. If I am not mistaking the GPU is the important hardware needed here so a solid video card is essential.

I'd rather buy, not build.

Believe me, building your own is the best choice. But if you don't feel like or can't build it, how about ordering the parts and giving it to a your local PC/computer store? I'm pretty sure they'll have no problem doing it for a bit of cash.

BTW, I pulled the trigger on a new computer purchase. Tell me if I did good, as you seem to know about them. I had to spec it because I couldn't find what I wanted in a finished unit. Remember this is for video editing, I'm not a gamer and never will be.

Intel i5-2500K 3.30 GHz 6M liquid cooling
8GB DDR3 1333 MHz dual channel memory
700 watt PS
Nvidia GeForce GT 520 w/ 1GB
Biostar H61MH Intel HDMI Motherboard
HDD 1TB SATA II 3.0Gb/second
Wireless IEEE 802
12 in 1 flash media reader/writer
24X double layer dual format DVD R/RW

Not bad, But I would've dropped down to 4GB of RAM, and used a better video card.

That's one of the things about prebuilt. The power supply, one of or THE most important part, is one of their favorite places to make their money.
