New Laptop Nightmare!

I purchased a new Samsung R510 with an Intel Core i5 processor running at 2.67GHz. Installed MS Office 2010 and Windows 7, and everything was working fine, then installed Trend Micro anti-virus and all my troubles began. Long story short I have managed to sort most of the dramas, which fixed themselves to a degree with Trend Micro was uninstalled (I now run Avast anti-virus) but I am still having an issue or two with Internet Explorer (I run version 9 - which I hate!). When I purchased the laptop it had Norton on it (which you had to subscribe to - I didn't) and have uninstalled that. I now run Firefox which accesses the websites that IE9 seems to want to block, but there's obviously a gremlin in the machine somewhere that is still blocking some websites. I have tried everything to sort the problem, but nothing has worked. Anyone got any clues?

Check control panel > Programs for any Norton crap left over on your computer.

Disable any Norton add-ons in IE.

That should do the trick. If not, in IE, go to tools > internet options > connections > LAN settings and then make sure that there is no proxy server running.

Yep, did all that, and still had hassles. I've just uninstalled IE9 and gone back to IE8, and that does seem to have helped to a large degree.

Trend Micro and the rest of them junk money sucking programs, will do a number on any computer. Think I would do a re-formating and start over clean.
