Anyone have anything good to say about Cyberpower?

Well, I sure hate to admit it, but all you folks were correct. I have had a horrible experiance with Cyberpower. They finally after 2 plus weeks sent the new computer out with a bad video card. They now tell me that they have no more of that video card and they need to charge my VISA an additional $159.00 for a upgraded card they do have. Cameron in tech support was honest and told me for my video editting chores this card would offer no performance increase over the bad one they sent me. Talk about screwing the customer. Next time when I arrive at a forum like this one, where the experts hang out, I'll do the smart thing and listen to them. My own stupid ego wanted my Cyberpower PC to do all the video editting I needed, so as I could return here and give a positive review.

If you haven't figured it out, this is a most negative review of Cyberpower. Does anyone here have anything positive to say about Cyberpower? Or is it the folks that responded to my posts mirror the insight on the forum that Cyberpower is rather rotten?

I would return the system and demand your money back. Pay someone who is experienced on these forums to build a system for you. They won't rake you across the coals like these people are attempting to do.

save the money and build it yourself :) probably one of the most fun experiences I've had. Especially the few times i convinced myself i broke it, and turned out wrong haha.

Though i could be biased, majoring in computer engineering and all..

i agree with 2048 and xtlk, either build one yourself or get someone on here to build it for you. It would end up better quality than cyberpower is.

Saying it would be better than Cyberpower isn't setting the bar too high. If I wasn't so busy I might have given building it a go, but getting to spec it I thought I would wind up with a computer that met my modest needs of video editing.(I'm NOT a gamer) Where I went wrong was not listening to the good advice here on the forum warning me to stay away from Cyberpower. Bummer.

Sorry to hear your troubles, man. Surely you can return it?

I'd have told you as well, that they are overpriced. Didn't know much else about them, but did know they are overpriced. Get someone to spec out a system for your, then put it together yourself. It'll only take one or two hours.

I'd help with the specing, but I don't get online much lol.

Definitely pressure them to take it back and at least refund the initial cost of the system. If they refuse just do a chargeback and let them hassle you about the system.

When they first started out I heard they were a little better, now they're just another OEM.

As long as it is taking to get a video card out to me, if it still doesn't work I'll be right up to the crummy 30 day refund policy. No card yet.

Ok guys I'll try again. Last Friday sent the never worked Cyberpower back for refund. Decided to go with the custom built PC Gamer (even though I'm not a gamer but need to video edit 1080P HD), original configuration of this computer had two video cards. Would two give better performance for video editting or is it just good for gaming? I can add the 2nd video card back in if you guys convince me it will speed up my editting chores. Also it is overclocked to 5 GHz. Tell me what you think for just under $2K?

The GTX 550 is only a mid range card. for $2k you should be getting a top of the line one, not a mid range.

1333Mhz CL9 RAM is slow. At 1333mhz you'll want CL7, try for 1600Mhz CL9 at minimum. 1600Mhz with better timings is optimal.

You could build a much superior setup for $2k.

For video editting (and no gaming at all) is the video card that important? Also would 2 video cards be of any value for editting? I'll list a few other systems I've spec'ed, would look forward to feedback before purchase.

Yes, video card is massively important in video editing (as well as DAW, CAD, Gaming, and im sure others like argiculture land plotting software). a CF/SLI setup may aid you, but no more than a good card would. Get a GTX460/GTX550ti or above (5870/6850 or above) and you wont need to worry with SLI/CF.

IMHO, no prebuild is worth the extra coin. It's like paying someone to play with an Erector Set (did I show my age?:D).
You could build a much superior setup for $2k.
^ That
I mistakely thought that if the TS got out of the bad deal with Cyberpower, he would build(assemble)it himself (no biggy for a gearhead ;)) Since Pro builders here @ Computerforum can recommend/explain all the high quality parts for an overkill custom machine if that's what's wanted..

I probably could assemble the primo parts recommended here, but if it doesn't work I would need some serious hand holding to reconfigure anything, as I just don't know squat about PCs. I sure don't need to save coin by doing it myself and have found a small scale but very reputable builder, V3. These are the specs we both agreed on, and the build starts today.

Your system specifications look great Deckofficer. You made a great choice shipping back the junk CyberPower sent you.

Did you buy a Windows installation disk for your system? I did not see it in your build list.

I would not run RAID 0 in my opinion. Your solid state drives are going to have very fast read and write rates without using it. I don't like RAID 0 because if one drive has problems in a RAID 0 setup, all your data is lost.

Post pictures after your system is up and running.

2048MB,

I'll do one better, my Passmark score on my current weak knee PC is 261.2. That isn't a typo, two six one POINT two. Can you see why video editing has been a nightmare for me? It is so bad, that I have to use audio clues to edit (engine going through the gears) because the video has lagged minutes behind the audio.

I have heard bad things about the resold cyberpowers scattered across places like newegg or tigerdirect, they lack a certain quality and usually are armed with generic brand parts. In the made to order business however, it's not always the same story. You can pick parts you like, tell em if it needs to be modded, how to set it up, etc. It's good if you just aren't up for making it yourself and need something ready to play/use. As far as I know in the custom computer business, these guys are not really the top of their game. If you want to do business with the top builders, try Puget or Avadirect. True quality stuff right there.
