What more must I do?

I have just built my first computer-

P8P67 EVO
i7 2600k
16GB G.Skill RAM
Radeon HD 5770 1GB
Auzentech X-FI Hometheater HD
Intel 510 SSD
Windows 7 64 bit

I built it for HD video editing but i want to use it for occasional gaming too. I tried GTA IV. It is a bit glitchy when driving fast and when a lot is happening. I thought this system would be perfectly fine for playing games but it is not perfect.
What more must I do to improve my gaming experience?

So you think I should JUST get a better video card?
Would it make a big difference if i bought the same card again and use CrossFire?

Personally id sell your current 5770 and just get a better single card,Your power supply is more than capable.

As for GTA IV performance,Its a poorly coded game and is known to not to always run smoothly on even the highest spec of machines,It still don't run smooth on my pc,Yet i can max all other current games out there no problems.

I'll say. It eats my Athlon for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and ate all 4GB of RAM. I'll have to try again with 8GB, a new GPU and Bulldozer

GTA IV I used to get a 40+FPS while driving and 45+FPS while walking or indoors.
And the FPS dropped to 29 when applying a lot of mods while driving and then the game would just shut off.But I had a trainer applied and many many mods I mean I had my picture on the hoardings and the almost all the cars were modded.
It did not use much of my CPU but my GPU will never be the same.
Even though I was running the game at 1440x900 resolution. ;)
I agree the HD5770 would not be able to run the GTA IV smoothly @Full HD(Assuming this)

Otherwise you CPU is more than capable of running 2 instances of GTA IV without a sweat.

I would also say the best choice would be getting a HD6870 or a GTX560Ti.
