My computer refuses to turn on. I tried 2 new fuses and both times The power supply box thing in the computer sparked and the fuses went dead. Is my power supply knackered?

If it is done can someone please recommend me a decent site in the UK to get one? How much is this gonna cost me.. I hope it hasn't damaged the rest of the computer as well.

Cheers

if you are getting no power at all it is most likely a blown psu
try www.ebuyer.com they have power supplys from £8.00

There is a reason some of the power supplies are extremely cheap at just £8 - because they are crap. OP will end up buying the cheap power supply and have it blow again. We don't even know if he has a standard ATX case, so could end up getting a PSU and have it not fit in his case or not have the correct connectors.

@OP, what computer do you have? If it is an OEM one, what is the manufacturer/model number?

yeah aastii but it depends on the pc, i have bought loads of there cheap £8.00 power supplies made by casecom only about 300w, i use them in my cheap budget systems and i have yet to have a failure, theres no point putting an £8.00 psu into a £1000 i7 but on the same hand no point spending £40 on a psu for £150 machine

Who said anything about putting a £40 PSU in a £150 system?

£28: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/114928

you are paying an extra £20, however I would put £20 on knowing I have a solid system, over having some POS PSU in there that could blow even on the most basic of systems

Even on a cheap budget system crappy PSUs should be avoided, you can skimp on components since the performance would go down by only a bit but you will still retain longetivity of your computer because of better quality components.

@OP you would also need to check other parts of your computer.Cause when my PSU blew up it took my Motherboard and DVD-Burner with it.
We can recommend you a good PSU but we would like to know your budget and your configuration. :D

well i can only go on my experience of countless systems built all using the same cheap psu and never had any failures or bad performance so they cant be that bad

I have never and will never put a bad power supply in any of my computers or ones I build for clients, because they expect the same quality I do. I would feely extremely guilty and feel as thought I had not done my job to the best of my abilities, as part of it is component selection and quality control, knowing I had put sub-standard components in when it could have been avoided
