I am am in the middle of a new build. I am wondering if its better to get a wireless pci card for internet or those micro usb receivers. Let me know what you think

Where will the computer be positioned? USB might be better if it's in a cabinet because then you can add the extender and place the receiver wherever you want.

a wireless usb dongle will give a wider use by the fact you can plug it in and out if any machine its not stuck in one machine.

It depends upon your computer wether it is desktop or laptop. but it will be better that u use usb but also think that it's transfer rate must be 150 Mbps. If you need more help click following link.

There is no need to refer people to other forums. Apart from you being new, its quite rude as there is plenty of knowledge here.

Also, you are incorrect, a PCI wireless adaptor has a much higher bandwidth than USB.

Suggests its a desktop. To answer the question, PCI is a better option.

desktop computers shouldn't really be wireless, that being said, a USB dongle will allow you to move it easily to other computers.

umm desktops do need to be wireless unless you are just going to run a mess of cabling all through the house.

I would go with the PCI card if you can..reason being is that you wont use up one of your USB'S for a device that you will run all the time.

Very silly comment. There are many instances where running a RJ45 cable is not practiable. In this case, an internal PCI card is more effective. USB dongles are fine for modems where you don't have WIFI, but anything else they're not good.

PCI adapter with an antena will be better. :good:

Also I like built in things rather than add-ons and PCI is closer to built in.

Sorry I looked at this from a business stand point, I still don't like wireless PCs
