Codecs for converting mov to avi

As my camera records video in .mov format I'm using QuickTime to convert it to .avi so I can view it on my TV. Only thing is that for the quality to match the .mov file it becomes three times the size. Can I download some other codecs that maybe work better in regards to file size, or will it most likely only be marginally better?
 
With the right software you can adjust the Video file size. QuickTime probably just doesn't have that ability, but have never used it so not sure.
 
The best codec software I have used is Allok 3GP, Allows you to convert pretty much any format and allow's you to down scale or up scale the video and sound quality. You do have to pay for it though and if I might say in my experience any good converter software you have to pay for it.

ok ur looking for something to convert and sometimes other sites bs around here is the best thing for u bro i always use this and is the best thing ever and its free. easy user face and very fast at converting to burn a avi i use dvdflick also very easy to use

Try using a free Eusing Free Video Converter version 1.2.
It's a free program and for a "free" program is has nice audio and video formats which you can use and does the job pretty good.

I use it all the time lol.
 
Well, I use the combination of format factory and aneesoft video converter, works well on all my videos covnersion, of course no problem to convert the mov to other video formats.
