is this PSU good enough?

ok today my current psu finally gave up.
but now i have a problem on which new one to get, as the one im after is 20watts less than the one that gave up.

The one that gave up is a trust 570w dual fan. Im powering a 8800gtx which requires 2 power connectors.

The new psu i found a good deal on is the Coolermaster GX 550W.

So basically my question is, is this new psu im after good enough and stable enough to run a 8800gtx, even though its 20watss less than the one that gave up ???

any help appreciated

I would personally spend a bit extra for

You are talking a much higher quality PSU. Also, for some reason unknown to me, the 620W is cheaper than the 520W.

Your system is probably only pulling around 400W under load, so it is plenty powerful enough

problem is, i need a new case too as my current one is damaged and not suitable no more, and i saw this deal on ebuyer
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/220861
and it fits my budget just nicely. I know the psu you mentioned is better, but is the one i have mentioned good enough, which is really all i need, i dont play games much no more so i wouldnt be too demanding on that side of things even though i have a 8800gtx.

Nice picks you got there. So are you basically saying the psu i have mentioned is no good? ive read ok reviews about it from toms hardware etc

well it isn't awful, but it isn't exactly great. For not a whole lot more, the Antec unti will be giving you cleaner power, will be more efficient and will be much more reliable

The antec is better, but only just. My vote is for the antec.

Coolermaster have a good rep, and at the lesser price for case and psu, i purchased the combo i think it is adequate enough to cope with a 8800gtx, better than my Trust 570w dual fan anyway lol

How only just? The Antec is SeaSonic built. Unless I am mistaken, it is just a rebranded Seasonic S12II. Every single test and bench shows the Gamer series to be extremely good PSU's, especially for the price, which is more than the CoolerMaster can say being just a good unit

i appreciate your guys help, but you didnt help me at all, infact it was more annoying each post i read, my question i asked , one simple question was NEVER ANSWERED. Instead all i got was diversions.

To quote my question

"So basically my question is, is this new psu im after good enough and stable enough to run a 8800gtx, even though its 20watss less than the one that gave up ???"

All i wanted was someone to say yes it will be find to run with a 8800 gtx OR no its not powerful enough and will die very soon.

I understand the advice of recommending other products, but i still kept asking if this one was good enough and never got an answer!!! . Anyway it arrived today i have put it all together and overall very happy.

Please explain in your own words why mate?

Go and look at benches and reviews. You are talking less fluctuations from the true voltages and greater efficiency across loads. I would take the Antec every day, even if it is a few quid more.

The only thing going against it is the warranty, the CM comes with 5, whilst the Antec only comes with 3, and more Amps on the 12V rail, however it has an extra 30W, so that is to be expected, and the Antec can go beyond the rated wattage to give similar amperage anyway.

Not saying the CM unit is bad, but I wouldn't consider it one of the "good" units that should be considered over and above the likes of the Antec unit, because it has these shortcomings that similarly priced power supplies address or improve upon. I wouldn't be upset if I got one of em, but given the choice, I would take a different PSU

I did, but didn't make it clear. Looking back, my reply looked like I was saying the PSU I recommended would be powerful enough, however I meant the one you had when I said:

Bit late for an answer.... Yes the PSU you mentioned will do fine...

I agree with you... A simple Yes or No is what you asked for would have been adequate.

i appreciate the non abusive reply, and any mixups which could be involved.

anyway as for the psu, the power off the 12v rail is what i liked about the CM. My last psu died after 3 half years, so with the 5 over 3 year warranty, personally i chose the CM and am very much happy with it.
