Toshiba HD troubles

I have wiped it clean one to many times I think.I been using active kill disk.I chose kill everytime.I been having trouble with windows 7.I have lost count how many times I installed 7 and wiped my HD.Im going to say 9 times within a week.
It shows bad signature in sector 0 on 80h.On my HD,device geometry it says,mode LBA:Yes(no idea what that means:confused:)
Shows cylinders,tpc,spt,ts,bps,& total size also.Was curious what LBA mode is.
I can't find the manufacturer's diagnostic tool for my toshiba HD:(.
Is their always a parition in a HD?Everytime I run kill its still their in my HD.
Currently the drive has no OS installed.Im waiting to see if this needs sorted out first before I try to install 7 again.
 
Likely you have a hard drive that is failing. Is the laptop under warranty still? If it is give them a call and tell them about the error codes you are having.

These two things tell me the hard drive is shot. A new hard drive for Toshiba is inexpensive. Figure out if it is Sata or Pata, pick a size you'll be happy with, and make sure it is 7200 rpm. Bite the bullet and buy a new one, unless it is under warranty... then I definitely agree with MB.

Logical block addressing (LBA) is a common scheme used for specifying the location of blocks of data stored on computer storage devices, generally secondary storage systems such as hard disks.
 
Omg Toshiba HDD AAAAAAAAAAA!!!
No offence to anyone,but Toshiba HDD are CRAP!
Once I had 6 new Toshiba hard disk drives for laptops and they ALL died withing 20 days!
Also my friend once bought a Toshiba laptop which logically had Toshiba HDD inside and guess what??? In less than a month,the HDD died and was not able to write any data on it.And the data which was BARELY able to be written on it,later when we tryed to save even that little data,OS reported that the data is damaged and next thing we saw was DATA is gone lol and after that HDD died completely withing 24 hours.
Also one of my clients had Toshiba HDD which died after approximately month and a half!

Please don't use Toshiba HDD lol.They are sh!!t !!:mad:

Seagate HDDs are the best.I have 2 Seagate HDDs which are about 12 years old and they still work like the day I bought them.I also have 3 more Seagate HDDs which are about 2 years old and they also work perfectly.
So rather buy the Seagate HDD then Toshiba because Toshiba HDDs are crap!True they have good laptops,but HDDs are sh!!t !!:D
Also never buy WD (western digital) HDDs.They are also shi!!t.Because sooner or later you will hear CLICK-CLICK...CLICK-CLICK...CLICK-CLICK and that means that HDD is dead and your ONLY chance to save the data (if even possible) is to take the HDD to a VERY VERY VERY expensive service.

I had 4 WD HDDs and they all died within 2 months.Also one of my friends who is working in a big company had 2 WD HDDs and they both died within few months and watch this.He was using them VERY rarely lmao!!

So don't EVER...EVER EVER EVER buy Toshiba or Western Digital HDDs!!!
They are cheaper than the Seagate HDDs,but the hell with the price if they work like crap or should I say if they even work.

Seagate is my 100% recommendation to you!

And no wonder why you needed to reinstall Windows 7 so many times in just ONE SINGLE FREAKING WEEK lol.It's because you have crapy Toshiba HDD.Besides...Kill Disk reported you a bad sector on Toshiba HDD lol.

Buy a Seagate HDD and if you take good care of it,it will work for YEARS.
As I mentioned above.I have 2 Seagate HDDs which are 12 years old and they still work perfectly and watch this...NO BAD SECTORS after 12 long years.I am even programming and playing Doom 3 from them lol and it works great!

Also I forgot to mention that I have 3 Maxtor HDDs which are about 11 years old and they ALSO work perfecty just like the day I bought them.
So my recommendation to you is Maxtor or Seagate.I would go with the Seagate if possible.If not go with Maxtor then,but do NOT buy Toshiba or Western digital!

I have a Western Digital 80 gigabyte hard drive that I have been using for about 9 years. Western Digital makes some great quality hard drives.

Every single WD drive me and ALL people I know had died within 2 months.
You are damn lucky that WD drive you have works for 9 years.
Because EVERY single one I bought (and brand NEW by the way) died in 2 months or less.

I probably will get a seagate when I buy another.Long warranty and has a cool logo lol.Im a lil different with harddrives.Imo it doesn't matter the brand,their bound to be some epic fails in a batch sometimes.I got a maxtor 9yrs strong in a old p4 tower im using right now.
I think WD and seagate are about equal.It depends on the models I believe.
I have a 500GB WD caviar green 32mb cache.Use it for a external.

Haven't had any trouble at all out of it.
Ill probably check CL for a HD.Need a 2.5" for laptop.
This error has shown before.But when I run a check disk and fix after install it always comes back clean no bad sectors or files,volume is clean.Doesn't seem like a bad sector,just a bad signature.Maybe I need to install a driver for the HD?Idk lol

Western Digital makes a solid drive, I install 3 or 4 a month average, and very rarely get called back. All hard drives have the potentially for trouble, especially in laptops being carried around a lot.

Maxtor also makes solid drives, but seems over priced. Not a fan of Seagate, but I dont use them very often, so a real life span is unpredictable from my life experience.

I will say that I have had drives fail from every different company that manufactures them, and when I go with the largest on the market it seems to have an even higher failure rate. Especially when 1TB drives first hit the market.
 
I have a 500GB Maxtor that has had some stick and is over two years old and solid as a rock.

On the flip side I got a 1TB Seagate and it fell over within a month.
 
I agree soflanetworking. I have another Western Digital hard drive that was made in 2004 and it is still working fine. I would have no reserves about buying a good Caviar Western Digital hard drive. Some of them have 5 year warranties.
 
I'll tell you one thing.I will NEVER EVER buy WD drive agian.Each one of them I had died within a month including the ones from my firm.So the hell with them lol.
Here where I live WD drives are the cheapest and sometimes they are the ONLY choice you can buy here.Sucks I know xD
Still that is not changing anything.I will rather order Seagate or Maxtor drives from other country then buy WD from my country lol.True...ordering Seagate or Maxtor is more expensive,but who cares lol.At least they will work for the next 10 years MINIMUM for the difference of WD who's life time is 30 days or less haha :D Or maybe EACH WD I had died because I was just out of luck I don't know,but still I am NEVER buying them again lol.Even if they are 1 dollar :P

Please refrain from telling users not to by Western Digital hard drives. The problem you have may be where you are located and the drives that get shipped there. Yeah, I've came across a few WD hard drives that have failed and also came across quite a few seagates that have failed. Everybody makes bad batches of drives so you can't single any one manufacturer out over the rest. I used to be nothing but a Western Digital customer years ago, then all of a sudden started getting bad drives. I switched to Seagate and couldn't have been happier until I got too may bad seagate drives. Switched back to WD and happy ever since.

You have your opinion about WD and I and others can back up that WD is a good manufacturer.

So please, I ask you nicely to refrain giving WD bad rep.
