Gaming, CAD, Simulations, etc. Build Help...

Buildling a computer that will do plenty of gaming, SolidWorks (for work), Simulations (CPU/GPU Intensive Electromagnetic and Flow Sim), and some video editing along with other daily tasks. Not biased to any brand, and would like to spend between 500-800$ Max (ideally somewhere in the middle) I used to do cheap builds as a tech, but have gotten into more engineering and less computer tech so I'm a little rusty on the "specs" side of things.

Thanks for your help, and here are a few items I had been looking at on newegg, feel free to tear them apart!

The Antec 300 sucks for cable management. Go for a lowerend NZXT or Coolermaster.

You can get DDR3 1600 for pretty much the same price.

Harddrive. Go for a Samsung F3/4 or Western Digital Back or Seagate 7200.12

Motherbaod, depends on what you want to spend. If not going to run crossfire, the GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3 is a good board. If you might run crossfire the GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 is about the best board for the price.

SATA 6.0 vs 3.0...What should I go for?

And what about the 3.2 vs 3.4 on the processor if Bulldozer doesn't come out as soon as people think it will. I will be OC'ing.

If you're in the us, then go to newegg and look at some of the new deals on the latest email special link on the home page, there's some pretty good ones there.
 
higher quality, a better chipset, most of the benefits aren't something any of us really know, it's in the actuall programming of the chips on the motherboard that is different and can use its resources more efficiently.
 
The board Stranglehold suggested is very nice. I have it and it works great. I had no trouble with mine at all or anything. Like everyone said, it is just a good board for the price and runs great.
