folder help

Say I have win xp on one computer and win xp on another computer and they are in a network.

I know I can right click on the Printer icone and go throught setting it up to Sair it on the network.

And on the other computer I go through adding a printer.

But what if I just Right click on the Printer Icone in the first computer and clicked COPY and then just Pasted it in the Shared Documents Folder.

Would this not do the same thing?

thanks but

What I ment is this?

The right way to do it is this way.
The first PC has the printer and you right click on the printer icone and click the Share tabs and all of this.

On the second PC you would go throught ading a printer and just select that printer.

Now I know this is the right way to do this.

But what if the first computer you just copy the printer icone to the Shared Documents folder.

And then the second Computer you go through ading the printer?

Because anything in the Shared Folder will be seen on every computer on the network.

So then you just have to Ad the printer on the second computer?

You can't do that. You don't understand the process of sharing printers on a network. When you try to install a printer that has been shared it actually tries looking for an attached printer to the network.

And you can't actually copy the printer icon to the shared folder. There is no copy on the right click menu. All you can do is create a shortcut and thats not gonna work either. Obviously you haven't tried right clicking on the printer icon. I'm on XP and its not an option.
