Amnesia: The Dark Descent

I started playing this game tonight, and this is from the person that was, for a long while, too afraid to play HL2 or Fallout because of Ravenholm and the underground with ghouls (respectively), and the very same person that played about 7 minutes of FEAR before closing and uninstalling it. Knowing how much of a pansy I am when it comes to games like this, I got asked to play it by a clan member, so did.

About half hour in, I've just come off it and am physically shaking. There were points where I was banging on the escape button to pause it whilst I had a little episode, I was freaked the hell out.

It started out fine, I was going through no problem, but the constant moaning in the background, and the random walking and chains and rattling you hear above you, and the lack of oil making it dark so you start seeing funny stuff as your sanity drops, it started to get to me and I am seriously freaking out right now.

has anybody else played it?

Yes. If the developers goal was to ruin several pairs of underwear across the world, they more than succeeded. What's crazy is the graphics aren't really that great. They rey on making everything freakin dark with amazing sound fx. I think one element that freaks you out its the lack of a weapon. In any other game you just light em up. When you have no protection..... You feel constantly screwed.

shut it you If you ever play it, you will freak out, I was there for moments not able to speak I was just trying to compose myself.

hahaha. I was going to say the same as russb but now i'm taking my words back. I usually like that kind of games but not that scary. The sounds you described in the game.....forget it. I dont even want to see the gameplay. I'm going to look for different type of game now...

I had to play the demo and i like the bit where you throw bits of body to keep the thing at bay.I still think you are a big pussy Aastii and yes i played it in the dark as well,would not buy it not enough action for me.

I borrowed it from my friend, but got stuck in this one place. That was on my old install so I don't have it anymore. I stumbledupon it and it sounded freaky.

I quite thoroughly enjoyed Amnesia. I'm usually not scared by video games (FEAR does not scare me at all). Amnesia was different and made me jump every once and a while, which I really liked for a change.

I haven't watched the review or Yahtzee for a long, long time. I like his reviews but I tend to watch them in bulk, I don't like him enough to watch every week. My avatar is for what it is, not for where it is from

haha I dunno mate, if other games and films at least make you jump, you will get scared by this .

It isn't so much that I got scared, it was more how constantly tense it is, it is the same with all of these games. I don't get scared, I just get put on edge so the slightest thing will make you jump or over react. Like I said, at first I was fine but with you constantly expecting something to happen, it makes you way too suspicious and far too ready for something to jump out, but it doesn't 9 times out of 10 which makes it a whole lot worse

I like the puzzles, but damn this game is creepy... not exactly scary, but creepy for sure.

Man there must be something wrong with me because I can never get freaked out on scary movies but video games turn me into a cat the moment I hear something ominous. If your like me; DON'T play this game alone, late at night, after eating steak and eggs, no lights on, and surround sound headphones. You may end up running to the bathroom to vomit, go number 2, and piss at the same time.

I've been wanting to check it out, but how I react with Bioshock (I HATE needles.. and he stabs himself constantly with them) and zombies (yes, I'm also a wuss) I'm not sure how far I'd actually make it into the game.

I shall debate though... and debate I shall do.
