Why is my smartphone is like a yoyo?

When I first picked up my Sanyo Android 2.2.1, it was slow at downloading apps. Then I installed Turbo Phone and my phone accelerated over 15 times at downloading. But when Turbo Phone was taken off the market over a month ago, my phone resumed its snail pace download (I still have Turbo Phone).

Subsequently my phone has twice gone back to its lightning speed (today being the second time). I can't detect any pattern to this and I'm bewildered. Has anyone else ever experienced something like this or has an explanation?

Update: I contacted customer service and awaiting an answer from them. I'm also researching on the internet.

Just to be clear, you're talking about download speed only, right? Not that your phone is behaving slower and faster on applications?

Download speeds can definitely fluctuate during the day, due to usage, signal strength and other factors. Also if you've been downloading a lot it's possible your carrier is throttling you.

Only about download speed, right. Since it's been slow from the beginning, then I strongly doubt that my carrier (Cricket) has been throttling me.

Update

I'm certain that the problem is with my smartphone and not my carrier.

I just realized that my phone sometimes runs slow with YouTube when it comes to streaming and I'll be checking to see how closely this corresponds to my downloading problem (currently the phone is running good).

It is the carrier, it is about the connection which deals with the carrier. If you dont believe us can you hook up to wifi? If so test it on wifi.
