I bought this computer a few months ago in the assumption that i would upgrade it when i had more money. However I dont know what to upgrade first. I want to spend about $200.00. I dont know what is compatable with what I have. I bought the computer for gaming and I would like it to be able to run games with decent graphics at high frame rates. I appreciate any help given.

well how are currentt games running for you on it at the moment?

i can run most MMORPG's, which are what i enjoy playing, on low settings and get like 30-40 FPS. I would like for both the setting and the FPS to go up.

First, what power supply does it have? Take the side panel off if need be and get the make/model/watts, so we can see what amps it has and what it can handle.

I'm at work right now and can't get to my computer at the moment. I can tell you that my power supply is 480W. When I purchased the computer I remember reading a review of someone saying that it would need a new power supply if it were to be upgraded. So its safe to say that a new power supply would be needed.

I am ok with going over $200. I really don't know anything about power supplies though.

Well a GTX 460 would do pretty well in a build like that and with a new PSU to run it you could stay pretty close to $200. Probably around 220ish. If you want a little more umph you could get a Radeon 6870 or a GTX 560. If you're never planning on doing Crossfire/SLI, which is 2 video cards at once, then you could probably get a good 600 watt PSU and be set.

Ok thanks, what PSU would you suggest? I don't know what is a good brand. I will most likely stick to 1 video card for this computer. The GTX 560 didnt seem that much more expensive than the 460 so I might as well go with the 560. On newegg I saw several different brands of GTX 560's. Also how many GB should it be? I assume the more the better? They are all compatible with my processor and mother board correct?

Yes they would be compatable. Well the brands to go with for a PSU are Corsair, Seasonic, XFX, PC Power and Cooling, Antec, and a couple others. You absolutely don't want to cheap out on a PSU because if you do then it could fry everything and the 20 bucks you saved on a PSU would go towards a new PC.

A few to consider.

You can also just look at this and most of those would be fine. Be sure to check reviews.

That the PSU I own. :) I'd be leery of the rebate though. A lot of reviewers say they never got it. I personally would be surprised to get mine. I haven't actually used mine yet other than to turn on a couple fans since my new computer isn't done but mine started up no issues and is completely silent.

The GTX 560 would be a good choice, possibly a Radeon 6870 or a 6950. Any of these cards would be great and run most/all games out today maxed out.

These prices are a little off from what you can get on newegg but just to give you an idea.
