Has anyone seen these Portable Gaming Computers?

I just ran across this ad on Ebay and then found their website.

I've never seen anything like them. I'm surprised by how much power they have. I was thinking about getting a gaming laptop, but don't want to downgrade from my desktop's GTX 580 and I want more RAM than I can put in a laptop. Honestly I like gaming on my desktop, but I am getting really tired of hauling around the monitor and computer and pulling my system apart every time I go to a LAN party. From what I can tell this looks like a great solution for me, with all the power of a desktop, but a lot easier to haul around. I'm pretty much sold, I just wanted to know if anyone had any experience with them.

Looks total Cr*p to me.
Would never get anything like that.

But for you it seems like a nice solution.

The advert say that thing is waterproof. Where is the hot air from machine going to exhaust??

And one thing sounds stupid is that the advert say it is 50lbs padlockable rolling case...
When airlines nowadays usually allow something like one piece of 23kg...
So getting that which basicly mean won't able to take any clothes??
How 'Airport friendly' would it be??

Non of the parts are water cooled. They are all air cooled, which will produce heat.. There is no Exhaust ports on the case what-so-ever.. Nuff said!? Biggest waste of $4,000 I have seen for a computer build...

I know a guy that did this. All he did was stick his old laptop into a Pelecan case. While upgrading a few parts as he built it, it was still cheaper then buying one premade.

you'd be better off with a itx like the falcon north west (i think that's the brand) fragbox, then a monitor and all and crating something to keep it together

My buddy's vented when you opened it at the top. There was a cover that snapped into place to cover up all the usb, e-sata, dvi and power line cable connections. He said he could have vented it out the side and placed a cover over it, but if he ever forgot to take that cover off when running it, bad news. All covers were o-ring sealed, competely water tight. His was a laptop and i believed weighed in around 25lbs.

This isn't just a desktop, its a fast dektop!

Maybe I'm being too stingy, but I could never buy from a website with typos. The site layout is weird. I imagine if you actually paid for one of these machines, not only would you never see $4000 worth of the original purchase, you would never see the $4000 period.

Don't worry. Only stupid would buy it.

Ya don't have to be a smart person in this world but ya gotta have good common sense.

I agree that it isn't the flashiest case on the market. I would like to see something like this that looks like a gaming computer. Their website states that it was designed as an video editing computer, and so maybe that makes sense. I've looked around and haven't found anything quite like this, I've found crazy expensive computers built for scientific research, but they aren't within my price range and are definitely not the latest and greatest. This system is surprisingly similar to what I would build as a desktop. I prefer Asus motherboards, but Gigabyte are good too. I agree also that it's expensive, but then again it has a lot of really good hardware in it. I tried pricing out an Alienware desktop, which I know are expensive, but it was over $4500 and it didn't have the SandyBridge processors and I could only put 12GB ram in it. If you add it all up, with a decent size SSD drive, monitor and all that, it's going to be a pretty expensive computer. I don't know about the cooling issues, and without more detailed photos it's hard to tell. I sent them an email about that, and so hopefully they will get back to me. I think they meant that the computer case is waterproof when closed. It looks like a Pelican Case or something similar and I'm pretty sure they are waterproof.

I sent an email with some questions about the system, and they got back to me pretty quick. Apparently it exhausts out the top at the back through a vent by the left hinge. They said it has an air intake on the opposite side. The case is apparently waterproof, but only when it's closed, and they said that you can't close the lid with the power cord still attached because it would get in the way. They apparently have a version with a $5000 video editing card in it, and they definitely didn't want to overheat that card so they really thought out the cooling of the system and they said it actually runs fairly cool. Honestly they seem pretty knowledgeable, but I think its a small company, and I'm pretty sure it was one of the system builders that emailed me back.
