Hey guys/gals,
So a buddy of mine has WordPerfect Version 12 (don't ask me why, i hate that program). He tells me today he has been having problems.
Firstly, the program runs fine with no error codes popping up. He cannot reinstall, repair or remove this program. He says that an error code pops up (he is unsure of the error code while trying to remove the software).
Every time he reboots his computer an error code of "1706"pops up and asks him to insert disc. He tries to insert disc and continue, but error code just comes up once again. If he cancels this "windows installer" error code 3 times, the error will go away and not come back until he reboots.
FYI: he is running Windows XP
So i tried looking on the net for this problem, there are tons with the same error code (google search was: Wordperfect 12 error 1706). Almost every one that i clicked on (majority of them were forums) the solution was to delete this program in the "Add/Remove Programs" section. He has tried this and will not let him remove it, something to do with the same error code comes up. Few say something about clearing registry, he has done this.
If any of you know where i could find info to try (something different than what has been tried) or know of a solution to try, please help.
