So tonight I put Windows on my laptop, in the process of the install it ask for my windows product key, when I flipped my laptop up to look at the bottom at the Microsoft product key I accidently hit the enter and it process through the install without a key put into it. How does that happen and is there going to be a difference in my windows version since I don't have the key entered? I mean worst case senario I re-install to be able to enter the key but if possible would like to avoid that. Thanks for the input.

Yes quite easily once you boot up right click my computer then properties and you will see a link this copy of windows is not activated click "activate now" and put the code in it will do it all online and then your copy of windows will be activated, validated and genuine.

I don't see were to activate it at, it doesn't show it. I was able to do all my Window Updates so I guess maybe there was a folder saved with the activation saved in it possibly.

I'm pretty sure that there is an Windows Activation in a Windows update just search the update list.

<Edit: wrong thread>

Also how easy was it to install Windows XP from the flash did you have to follow the thread on installing Operating Systems by a flash drive. Or was it just a case of copying the files over off the CD and pasting it onto the flash drive and then going through the installation process.

:confused:? I installed Windows 7 from a website that provides the legal ISO files.
