Ok i know this thing is old. But I fix them up for people the best I can. I got this Toshiba Tecra 8000. It had Windows 2000 on it. So I updated to Windows XP Pro and it ran great for about 4 hours. Then it shut off and now will not boot up. I thought it was the screen and plugged it into a CRT but nothing. I have tried booting off a disk and nothing. It also will not load into BOIS.

Any Ideas?

Have you tried running it on AC without the battery? I don't know if that would make any difference, but I guess it's worth a try. ;) Considering how old it is, the battery could be totally shot.

I never even thought about that. I will give it a try right now. Thanks so much for the idea. Sometimes it can be the simple things I guess lol.

Was worht a try but still nothing. I can hear the HD start to turn and the CD drive will power on too. It is weird. I though about taking the CMOS battery out but I have to find it on this model

Update on it. I tried the trick "Hold the power button in for 10 seconds" and it did not work either. I was wondering if something along the lines of bad ram could cause this?

Yeah, I've seen bad RAM cause a computer to do that before. If you have any extra RAM of the same type, try swapping it in. If not, then you could probably grab a couple sticks for cheap on ebay or something. :)

Yeha I am going to see about buying a few sticks for it. I have a person look at it and he said that I should use it as a paper weight but I think it still has life... I hope. Worse case gives me something to do lol.

Hey, as far as I'm concerned, any computer back to an original Pentium can still run a lightweight version of linux just fine. :) :good:
