Does anyone have the SATA drivers or know where to get the SATA drivers for windows XP SP2? I have done google searches and waded through an ocean of BS comeons, lures and all kinds of crap and never did find the drivers. If somone could please help me out I'd really appreciate it.

The laptop is a HP dv7 Pavilion. Not sure what MB it has. I'm trying to load XP on sata hard drive duel boot. I think I may have found it but not sure.

Thats to make a floppy disk with the drivers on it. It may or may not work as this driver date is back in 2005. If you have a floppy drive you can make the floppy and then integrate the drivers into a new install cd. If no floppy drive then that won't work. I'm actually really surprised the bios doesn't have a setting to change it from ahci to ide. I know it took me a couple trys to get the driver right for a gateway laptop.

I've tried looking for the F6 install files but most of the links i've found are dead links. I'll keep looking.

If you have a burner you could just unpack the SATA driver and slipstream it to your XP CD. But like johnb35 said, look first in the bios and see if you can change the SATA ports to IDE mode.

I tried to slipstream following several tutorials and got real close but just wouldn't do it. Still got the BSOD. I used nlite and nero and followed the instructions and made a slipstream XP cd but the only way I could get close was to use a USB floppy drive with the drivers on the 2.5 floppy disk. The so called slipstream cd wouldn't work. I guess XP didn't see the drivers on the cd or maybe the drivers didn't get loaded on the cd I don't know. The only thing I know to do is to buy an older pc for XP.
